Brownie's been holding pretty steady for the past few months, eating well, holding her weight at 6 1/2 lbs or so. Only issue is she's had a constant cough and sneeze. She's been on two courses of amoxicillin, and both times they clear up for a while then she's back to sneezing.

The past few days she's been sneezing again, but there hasn't been a discharge or anything, so I was just watching her and calling her Sneezy McSneezerton and Sneezer Meezer. This morning, though, she had a sneezing fit, and was blasting blood all over the walls, the sheets, and the blanket! Bright red blood.

I freaked.

Called the vet, and of course this is his half-day, and his locum Dr. Awalt was covering for him. Awalt won't stay late, and it was already almost noon, when they close. They told me that cats have really thin nasal membranes, and if they are sneezing a lot, they can have a nose bleed. They told me to keep an eye on her, and give her the amoxicillin again (we still had some), and bring her in first thing in the morning (9 am).

So got a dose down her, and I've been in here at the computer with a Boo on my lap and a moist paper towel nearby to wipe up any bloody sneezes. It's been a while, but no more bloody sneezes. She seems quite normal now. Except pissed about the amoxicillin.

Of course I had to Google cats and bloody noses. It can be as simple as a bacterial infection on top of a viral infection, or as serious as nasal adenocarcinoma. Great. After losing Bunny to jaw cancer, now I have to worry about Brownie having nose cancer.
