Kidney Update part deux

Went to a urologist yesterday. I was concerned (as I always am) that because I didn't have gross hematuria he wouldn't find anything, would pronounce me a malingerer, and chase me from his office, beating me about the head and shoulders with a large model of a ureter.
(For some reason, I always worry that my symptoms will magically disappear and the doctors won't find anything, and will label me a hypochondriac. Hasn't ever happened, but I believe deep down that I am unworthy of any sort of medical attention, and that any illness I have is really just attention-seeking behavior on my part. See what happens when your grandmother was a true hypochondriac and your mother was a confirmed doctor-fearer?)
But no such luck -- he said there was lots of blood in my urine, I have microhematuria right now. My lower back has been a bit achey for a couple of days, so I wasn't really surprised (beyond being surprised I was seeing him for a bona fide reason). Today I have gross hematuria, or as I told Mike, "Blood pee is back!" Last night I had to take a diclofenac because of my back pain.
Anyway, he sent me for blood work (BUN and creatinine) to evaluate my kidney function, as he wants to do an IVP next week and then a cystoscopy. The cysto is scheduled for August 1.
He said it could be stones, calcifications in the ureters or kidney, or "a tumor". Great. JUST what you want to hear before a weekend.
To top it all off, when I had blood drawn the vampire hit a nerve going in that made my thumb spasm, then didn't let me put pressure on the stick site before she taped it up, so now I have a huge bruise in the crook of my left arm. Niiiiiice....
So I've been losing myself in my garden to keep me from doing endless Googling on kidney cancer, bladder cancer, ureter cancer, cancer cancer, and any obscure kidney ailments I can find. I've put up 6 pints of corn today, tomorrow will be a tomato sauce day and mow the lawn day. If I have any energy left I'll work on a quilt.
More info as it becomes available...
