3 down, 2 to go!
6/24/10 10:56 pmI tell you what, spay/neutering kittens before you try to adopt them out flat works!! We had Scarfoot, one of the orange males, given away the day after we got them home, and tonight little Tortie Girl and Blackie went to their new home together!
Miss Tortie Girl had turned into a very confident, personable little cat, and she is just the personality to bring Blackie out of his shell -- he's friendly and sweet, but a little more shy and sensitive than TG. When we walked into the room with the adopters, she strolled right up to them for pets and adoration, and Blackie wasn't far behind.
Silly persons, they came for one kitten and left with two!
Now we have the two shyer orange males left -- I keep flip flopping about their temporary names. Tom and Huck, Heckle and Jeckle, Up and Down, Monster and Chowhound, or that perennial favorite pair, Doug and Dinsdale. Still can't tell them apart. Every time I think I've found a clue, I discover the same mark, pattern, shade, or quirk on the other.
I did have to rub it into Mike a little, he was resistant to getting them fixed before they left, but I told him it would probably make them easier to find homes for. And sure enough, it's what tipped the balance for TG and Blackie going together -- no more cost. Plus Blackie being all weird and not eating wet food, dry food only, please.
