Writer's Block: Raining cats or dogs?

In fact, I'll probably become the crazy cat lady of the neighborhood, but at least I'm a responsible CCL, because I vet all my indoor cats (Beau, Bill, Jack, Crystal, and Maggie), I've limited myself to those 5 for the foreseeable future (Bill, Crystal and Maggie all have to pass on before I get another, and then it'll be another rescue Siamese), and ferals that come up all get spayed/neutered and vaccinated as I can trap them.
I've had dogs, and enjoyed the dogs I had, but cats just strike a stronger chord with me.
As long as no one ever ever tells me "It's me or the cats" we'll get along fine. My philosophy is that you can choose the people you get involved with, but pets are like your children -- you may have chosen them as well, but they love you unconditionally and they look to you for everything. Taking them to the shelter, giving them away, or having them put down just because some new light o' love doesn't like dogs/cats is tantamount to saying "I don't like kids, so you'll have to get rid of them if we're going to be together." Sorry, fella, ain't gonna happen.
If a potential SO had dogs, and was okay with cats, and his dogs were okay with cats, then everything is copacetic. Otherwise, we'd both be happier with someone else.
