Jack goes to the vet

...and she's officially a she, altho the vet had to really investigate in order to be sure, so I don't feel so bad at my sexing fail. I guess Li'l Lisa makes ambiguous girls as well as boys...

She weighs 2.4 lbs, and is about 9 to 10 weeks old, which falls exactly into my estimate. She's negative for FLV/FIV, has roundworms and tapeworms. She was treated for the worms, but since she's strictly indoors we didn't see the need for the shots, and our vet agreed. She'll be ready for spaying in about another month to 6 weeks.

She nroled on the way over, and eeped a bit on the way home. Didn't really kick up a fuss at the vet, which surprised me. Everyone exclaimed over how pretty she is, with her white whiskers on her jet black face, and the white diamond on her head. Once we got back home, she strolled calmly out of her carrier, then went to tell Uncle Bill all about it. She felt perky enough to bounce Brownie a bit, too!

Since she's got worms, we figure everyone else does too, so everyone has had a dose of liquid roundworm meds in some canned food. Now they're all sleeping it off. Tomorrow the sand box will no doubt be a horrific worm-laden mess. I'll probably just dump the whole thing, disinfect it, and start with fresh litter.

Brownie went to the vet too, for her depo shot and some antibiotics. Jack has a little bit of a URI, and since the depo depresses Brownie's immune system, she got it and turned it into pre-bronchitis. So now my Boo is back on amoxicillin for 10 days. Jack got a shot. She Was Not Amused.

We also dosed the outdoor cats, which we've been doing twice a year anyway. Might as well do everyone. The only one that's really difficult to dose is Bill -- he hates any sort of being pilled or dosed with liquid, and howls like you're killing him. So I'm waiting for Mike to get back from the vet so we can do him.

I have some pictures in the camera I need to upload and share. I'll do that later this evening.
