More on the Boo (that's her in the icon)

She's been eating her cooked chicken like a champ (we've been poaching her a chicken breast in a little broth with some salt and pepper, then mincing it up fine and keeping it in the fridge with the broth), and so far has gained back up to 6 lbs 12 oz. At the vet her highest weight was 7 lbs 6 oz, but honestly I think that was a little heavy for her -- she had definite fat flaps and she wasn't tubular when viewed from above, her waist area was bulgy. I think keeping her around 6 3/4 to 7 lbs is best for her and her joints. She looks good, her fur is shiny, and she's covered up her backbone, ribs and hip bones again. You can feel her ribcage but you can't feel her ribs without really trying.

I've also been giving her 2 mL of Syn-Flex 1500 every night for the past 10 days, and tonight she dropped down to 1 mL maintenance. I give it to her with a syringe, just shoot it into the back of her mouth, she swallows it before she realizes anything is up. She seems to be walking more easily now (she usually limps noticeably on her right front). I've also been giving her gentle jaw massages every other day for any TMJ she might be starting up.

She's been slowly adding hamburger meat back in; tonight she finished up some taco meat that fell out of our tacos. She's also decided she LOVES Whisker Lickins Dreamy Duos. These snacks are crunchy on the outside and soft on the insides. I give her a few during the day, and immediately after she has her Syn-Flex (Mike calls it Joint Juice).

So looks like my Boo will be in residence for a while longer.
