I've got Shrub's news conference du jour on in the background, listening to him with half an ear, and suddenly my Grammar Radar is lit up and locks on. One of the "journalists" has just posed a question which included the phrase "...that you conversated with..." This creature is black.

WHERE in god's holy hell did this bastardized, limp-dicked, wishy-washy misconjugation of the verb "converse" originiate? I've gotten so I barely wince when I hear one of the participants in a daytime courtroom show use it to indicate "I spoke with someone" or "we had a conversation" -- I put it down to their failure to fucking PAY ATTENTION in 1st or 2nd grade when they were supposed to be learning how to conjugate verbs.

But I simply have to draw the line at its usage by a member of the press corps. Supposedly these people have enough education to be able to string words together into a comprehensible form, meant to convey information to those who can read. I was also under the impression that Ebonics was NOT a valid language in the academic and professional use of the term.

Don't they realize how utterly stupid and ridiculous they sound when they use these made up words that are supposed to sound impressive? If you're going to use a "big word", then use it CORRECTLY!!! There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE TO USE THIS SORT OF THIRD-RATE, IGNORANT, FIELD-HAND MANGLISH, ESPECIALLY IN THE NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL VENUE!!!!!

One can only hope her editor has the balls to dress her down for this usage. Most likely though, he will let it slide, because she'd no doubt twist it into a race card scenario. "You're attacking my use of a valid idiom because I'm black!!" she'll moan, calling up the NAACP, NOI, and ACLU for good measure.

Poor English, we hardly knew ye.
