God, I FREAKIN' LOVE my bandsaw!!!!!
12/27/05 10:52 pmFinished putting it together yesterday, got the stand leveled, the table leveled, the blade properly centered and tensioned, the blade guides aligned correctly, and then made my first cuts.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. This little bastard runs so smooth and quiet, you almost don't need hearing protection (but I wear it anyway, safety goggles too). I have the wet-dry vac hooked up to the dust port, and that thing is louder than the bandsaw!! It powered its way thru some 2" blanks I had, then I felt so cocky that I got the pattern pieces I still needed to cut out and went to town.
I now have perfectly straight and true legs, muscle overlays, head and neck, and head/neck muscle overlays for the little rocking horse I'm building for my mother-in-law, for the great-grandkids to play with. I glued up the head and neck unit yesterday, then today I rough carved the legs and glued them to the belly block (cutting the angled slots for same on the Wonderful New Toy), and started carving the head.
I should have the head finished tomorrow, and ready to be glued onto the upper body block, then the whole shootin' match pulled together tomorrow afternoon or Thursday, ready to start cutting the horse out of the pile of firewood. Pics of the BANDSAW and the horse bits tomorrow evening.
I LOVE MY BANDSAW!!! Altho I need to replace those graphite guide blocks with ceramic ones....
Did I mention I LOVE MY BANDSAW!!!!!
