1. appaloosas:
   I. Love. Appaloosa Horses. They are one of the oldest distinct breeds of horse, and appear in paintings on cave walls. They originated in the Altai mountains (the REAL ones did, anyway) of northern Mongolia, and were the chosen mounts of the Chinese Emperors. Appaloosas have a quiet spirit and dignity that sets them above the average run of horse. God willing, I'll have another one someday, even if all I ever do is brush and love it.
2. autopsies:
   Simply fascinating.
3. cats:
   Cats are the other animal that makes my soul sing. I love their wise eyes, their soft fur, and the complex relationships you can have with cats. Cats choose you, and once they do they treat you like an equal. It's an honor to be cat-chosen.
4. chinese food:
   Chinese food is my favorite cuisine in the world. I found a wonderful cookbook on eBay that has all my favorite recipes in it, as well as a lot I've never seen before. Tuesday night I made Twice Cooked Pork (but I used beef), and it was better than what you get in Chinese restaurants. Mmmmmmmmmm.....
5. england:
   I spent 3 glorious weeks in England in 2001, in March. I enjoyed every minute of it, even when I got horrible bronchitis the last 2 days and spent a whole day in London coughing and horking up huge globs of lung-butter. I stayed exclusively in B&B's and inns, and saw things most tourists don't. I ate much beef, and got my feet wet in the Irish Sea (since it was March, that probably wasn't my brightest idea, since I got sick about 3 or 4 days later). I intend to go back and visit Scotland. Pilch, you up to a houseguest for a day or two?
6. horses:
   Horses of all breeds have been my passion since I can remember. Having to sell them because of my bilateral vestibulopathy has broken my heart, but I have to find a way to keep on going for 40 or so more years. I'm hoping that after we get done with the lawsuit against the surgeon who caused it, we can get a small farm on 5 or so acres and do animal rescue -- cats, dogs, and most especially horses.
7. ice cream:
   Mmmmmm. That's all.
8. italian food:
   Another favorite cuisine, and one I'm pretty darn good at cooking. I love Olive Garden, but best of all I love making Italian dishes myself.
9. medical tv:
   I love medical shows, real and drama. The season premiere of ER was on tonight, and I loved it. I just wish some of the good real shows were still in production -- Trauma: Life in the ER, The Operation, Paramedics.
10. medicine:
    I wish I'd become a doctor, way back when I was young and had my life spread out before me. Alas, I let one bad quarter with chemistry change my mind, and I switched to computers, which turned out to be nothing but a 2 bit whore. Maybe in my next life I'll remember to go with medicine....
