4/22/05 09:10 pmSome more random ramblings from my past week...
April 20th was my 22nd wedding anniversary to Mike. It's been rough a few times, and here recently (like the last 3 or 4 years) have been extremely difficult; so difficult in fact that about a year ago I was thinking seriously about divorce. But funny thing, having major surgery then almost dying from complications then recovering but being permanently disabled can work some major attitude changes in both parties--you realize what you could lose, you see what a total shit you've been, and you either fix it or you give it up. We fixed it.
Spot and Foalbert leave Sunday (if Tracy can get here). After that it will be Bambi by herself until next weekend, then all the horses will be gone. We'll be listing the house with a Realtor next week sometime, as soon as I finish painting the decks and touching up the house.
How weird that I'm doing the outdoor stuff and Mike is cleaning the indoor stuff. Today he shampooed the carpets and right now is cleaning the bathrooms. I haven't been able to paint for the past 2 days because of the weather. I'll probably be able to finish up on Sunday or Monday, if it isn't too cold. Predicted low for Sunday night is 38!
Opened the pool this week, since a pretty sparkly pool is a bigger selling point that one that is still wearing its grungy winter cover. Having to balance the water, it was really low in total alkalinity and calcium hardness, pH a little low. Finally got the TA corrected, then it fucking RAINED for two days. Taking a sample to Home Depot to make sure my test kit is working right, then going to get the stuff to straighten out the calcium hardness. pH is pretty good right now (7.4), but chlorine is too high still from the initial shock AND from Mike putting chlorine sticks in the skimmer basket. Took those out, yesterday the total chlorine was 8.0 ppm, needs to be 1 - 3 ppm. But then at 66 degrees F it's still too cold for swimming.
The lady I bought my stallion from stopped by today on her way to pick up a mare she leased and a stallion she's going to break. Showed her Spot's baby, she was thrilled with him, says I should be able to get $4500 for him easy. That would be nice, but I'm leaving that up to Spot's new owner and then she'll split what she gets.
My pouch has been gurgling and talking a lot the past week. Doesn't seem to want to empty very quickly either, I feel so full all the time. I may have a small stricture, may have a hernia at the top of the incision, but I feel funny about going to the surgeon to find out because I'm in the process of bringing suit against him for the gentamicin-caused vestibulopathy. I'll most likely go to my PCP and see what she thinks.
Last night I had horrible pepper-scented farts. I've had horrible farts for weeks, but these made the cats leave! Everyone's a fucking critic...
The folks who bought Gracie and Bud sent pics of them today. I felt sad all over again... Bud is looking *so* much like his mama Trilly, and Gracie is just growing like a weed. We may need to go visit them before long.
I sure hope the house sells before the ones we'd like to buy sell! If there is anyone looking in the West GA area (Haralson County), the house is a gorgeous 4 BR/2 BA ranch on 15+ acres, fenced and cross-fenced, with a 2 acre lake, 4 stall barn, in ground swimming pool, fireplace. $280,000 and it's a steal.
And that's it from this end of the county.
