Dead Computer!!!

wobblerlorriI was testing a possibly bad CPU in my (perfectly working) box, and had a little oopsie when I was taking the heat sink off the original CPU. Oh well, I thought, no biggie. So I cranked up the box with the possibly bad CPU in it, and sure enough, it's bad. The damn thing overheats and shuts down the box randomly.
So went to put my old CPU back in, but apparently snapping off on of the clamp points for the heat sink is Not A Good Thing -- also the fact that Mike had thrown out the old dead mobo with my old not-dead CPU on it....
So I'm going to get a new mobo, new CPU, new RAM, and a new case out of the deal, but until then I'm using this POS Dell Latitude that I got for cheap on eBay. It's okay, but I can't get it to make my widescreen LCD monitor the primary monitor,is sitting here looking at me blankly while I squint to see the little laptop monitor. I'll figure it out tomorrow.
So if I post even less frequently than usual, it's because I have a Bizarro World computer setup which isn't the most convenient in the world to use. Especially considering that my lap, which should be a perfect rest for my keyboard, is taken up by a Fat Calico Cat. Not conducive to comfy computing.
I hate computers.
ETA: got it to see my monitor, so now I'm able to actually see what I'm typing... had to use < Fn >< F8 >...
