wobblerlorriFinally got pics of that poor little chest of drawers... pics behind a cut so that Baby Jesus doesn't puke up his Holy Mothers' Milk all over the Holy Mother's clothes...
This is an all-over shot of the poor thing, displaying its horribly misguided paint jobs for all to see.
Here's a close-up of the pretty curved front drawers and the shell detail below on the next drawer.
This is a close-up of an area I stripped, just to see what was under there. I count at least 4 coats of ugly paint, and what looks like red oak under it all. Now what imbecile would paint over OAK, fer chrissakes?
This is the top of the chest. The front of the whole thing is to the left, the back to the right. Yes, that is ivory paint with a brown glaze poorly applied to make it look (I guess) like wood grain. Never mind that there is already a perfectly acceptable wood grain UNDER all that crap, let's just slap on another coat of paint! Make it modern!!
And this is the pretty little leg on the front of the chest. It's sort of a cabriole style, with a spoon or spade foot.
I'm going to start stripping it tomorrow, God knows how long before you see pics of the finished project.
And for fun, here are a couple of our cats, NOT behind a cut. Baby Jesus can kiss my ass.
This is Miss Maggie, or Maggiesnacks. I inherited her from my mother after she died (Mama, not the cat) because she was being bullied by my son's cat and stayed up on the refrigerator all the time. Now she just stays in my room all the time, but she could come out if she wanted to, the others wouldn't really mind.
And this is Kim, AKA Brownie, Boo, Boolaroo, and Brownieboo. She's a gen-yoo-wine Simoneez cat, got papers and everything. She's also very small, about 5 lbs on a good day, very dainty. She likes to stay up in my room too, because it's warm up there. Brownie loves anything warm -- computer monitors, laps, chests, the seat you just vacated, under the covers, you name it. She also can eat a prodigious amount of YOUR food.
I'll have to get a pic of Bill the Coward and Crystal the Deaf White Cat. And of course Pete the Best Dog In The World II.
