Kidneys -- the saga continues
10/12/10 04:45 pmJeebus, this blog has become mostly about medical issues, hasn't it? Welcome to my life.
Anyway, the Cipro has done well to get rid of whatever issue was causing the vicious burny pain that felt like shingles but wasn't, and I'm peeing a lot more copiously now, but I still have a dull ache in the kidneylar region, especially on the right. And weirdly, the achiness has spread down to my right leg. Almost feels like ilio-tibial pain, but not quite. There's also a soreness along where the sartorius muscle runs -- that long slim muscle that runs from your hip bone across the top of your thigh down to the inside of your knee.
I'm thinking it's just referred pain, but I'm watching it. I still have about 5 days of Cipro left, and I'm taking it religiously. What bothers me though is that today I had to take half a hydrocodone because the right leg was hurting so much, and the dull ache was bad enough I couldn't properly concentrate on Hoarders.
I'm wondering if I have 2 or more organisms that have staked a claim to my urinary system, and the Cipro is taking out only one of them. I'm also noticing, after I pee, that I have a definite smell emanating from down there. Not while I'm peeing, but a few minutes later, when I'm sitting at the computer desk. I think that the pee smell I was noticing a while back that I blamed on cats may have actually been me. Mike assures me that I don't personally smell like pee, but it's worrisome. There are nasty UTI causing bacteria which can cause kidney infucktions, but the ones I'm thinking of in particular are Klebsiella spp. and Pseudomonas spp.
I've decided what I'm going to do is finish up the Cipro, and if I'm still having trouble, I'll try to see the sainted Dr. Eubanks earlier than the 26th, which is when my appt is. I also have an appt on the 19th to see the specialist at Emory about the GERD. To top it off, I see a new dentist tomorrow, too. Guess I should brush my teeth tonight (ha ha).
Patrick on the other hand is doing great, and will be released to work tomorrow, Wednesday. That is a huge relief. Mike remains disgustingly healthy. I also realized that in 7 years I will be 60 years old. That was NOT a pleasant realization. I can see that 60 will be as disturbing as 30 was.
