Went back to Emory today and had the horrible catheter removed. I didn't sleep for shit last night, I was so worried about getting tangled up in those bastardly wires, accidentally hitting a button, trying to remember if I'd pushed the lying down button, the standing up button, the eat/not eating button, and all the other buttons. I don't know if I did or not, they can figure it out for themselves.

As the evening wore on I felt worse and worse with that damn thing in. Every time I'd wake up I'd move before I remembered, and there would be my friend the Tug. Ouch. Then I'd turn on my left side, and it would sort of slide down to the lowest point, which was uncomfortable. Then I'd turn on my right side, have some reflux, hit the #1 button, and turn on my back. Then, since I can't sleep on my back, I'd turn on my left side again. All. Night. Long.

Got up this morning at 8:00 am, which is waaaay too early for me. Went looking for grits, but I didn't feel perky enough to make them, so I got a cup of lime yogurt and my banana. Carefully ate the banana, holding the tube so it wouldn't tug, and gratefully slurped down my yogurt (it's store brand yogurt, and isn't as firm as name brand. It's almost drinkable). Watched my recorded Daily Show, then started watching Destination Truth but sort of dozed off. Then it was time to go.

I was actually watching the time and counting down the hours. It was scheduled to come out at 12:36 pm, and by god it was coming out then. Happily I didn't have to wait long -- we got there at 12:15, and the nurse called me back at 12:30. She removed the tape, then onetwothree ZIIIIIIP out it came!

And then came the nose bleed. Not a problem, it's part of the whole lovely experience. I blew my nose a couple of times, then crammed a Kleenex up there. It stopped pretty quickly. Scrubbed the benzoin off my nose and face, and we headed out. We did indeed eat at Zesto's, and I got my Brown Crown, which was wonderful. All cool and creamy, sliding down my poor irritated throat.

Yes, I removed the Kleenex before going in.

Then I mostly dozed on the ride home, and as soon as we came in I went to have a large, satisfying dump, then called up Beau for Naptime! I fell into bed, read 2 lines in my book, then fell asleep with Beau purring warmly in my arms, his head tucked into my elbow. He was upset last night because he was concerned about the monitor and couldn't sleep in my arms.

Got up 4 hours later, had fish sticks and cream peas from my garden, watched recorded episodes of World's Dumbest, and now I'm ignoring Tony Danza teaching English on A&E. I'm going to bed here right shortly -- I'm still tired.

I have to make an appointment to go in to be told the results later this month.
