Guess Who's HOME!!!!!
2/20/10 06:09 pmPoor fella, he was a very quiet traveler, only commented when I took my hand off him to adjust my seat belt and then again when we got home and I zipped up the carrier. At one point in the trip he turned his head and licked my palm! Awwww....
He has a song now -- just DreamBeau and Beau repeated over and over to the tune of "Blue Moon", however they fit. He seemed to enjoy it!
Brought him in and put him in his room, he immediately found the darkest little corner he could (under a table) and assumed the meat loaf position -- front paws tucked, tail tightly curled, hind end pinched under. I lay on the floor and crooned to him for a bit, then I moved his cat sand into the space between my sewing table and the table he's under (so he could find it), moved the food to the other side of the room, and put his beds near where he is -- the Millie bed, and a box with his blankie from SCRC and the knitted one Jo, his foster, sent.
After about 10 min or so of crooning to him and commiserating, I pulled him out and cradled him. He struggled up (but politely) into a more on his tummy position, and buried his head in my elbow. I gently stroked him for a little while, then he decided to do a quick explore of the room. He sniffed his food and water, found his cube, then went along the wall back to his hidey hole. He had to walk through the cat sand to get there, and he sniffed it with great interest. Then back into meat loaf mode.
I just took him some gooshy food in and he's eating! I had to stroke his head gently in order to get him to eat it, but once he got going good he was shoveling it in! He's a tired baby, he's had a big busy day today.
I put his Millie bed and the cat blankie from Jo under the table with him so that he'd have a warm place to sleep where he felt safe. Even if he doesn't get in it, it's up close to him so he'll be warmer.
I'll visit him again a little later, and do litter patrol at bedtime, so I'll know then if he's used it. I'll keep everyone posted on his progress! Poor shy boy, at least knowing he's painfully shy will keep me from having expectations of an incredibly quick integration. It'll be on his time schedule, as he's ready.
