In other, non-cat-related news, the following things are occurring my life:

1) The filling I got last week has somehow developed a hole in it. I have never seen this before. This is the tooth that had a big filling in it, then was discovered to have broken on one edge when I had my cleaning. It was a 4 surface filling and has a post in it as well, and I think the next step here will be (yet another) crown. It's the 4th premolar, the second one after the canine and the one just in front of the first molar tooth, on my lower left. If it can't be patched up, I'm going to ask them to discount the price of the crown by the cost of the filling, since I only got one week's worth out of it. Or I might have it pulled. I don't know. I need to find out if it will cause all my other teeth to shift, and if it really matters since I'll be 53 this year -- IOW will it shift enough in the next 30 to 40 years to make a difference to my quality of life. If not, I'll just have the fucker yanked. I don't care anymore if I look like a Waffle House waitress.

2) My cold is finally gone, but I'm left with raw, sore nostrils that produce huge bloody boulders of calcified nose-rock every morning and afternoon. I also had a bonus zit develop last week in the top of my left nostril. I picked at it every day, trying to get it to come to a head, and finally Friday night I was scratching it with my thumbnail and pulled back with a rewarding glob of white pus on my thumb. Now if I could quit snorting out these fucking rocks...

3) We were supposed to have a "major weather event" last night and today, with accumulations of up to 4 inches. It was sunny and bright all day. Now, it's snowing. Has been for about 2 hours. So far there's about an inch out there. Luckily the roads are dry, so there isn't any ice going to form, even though the low tonight is going to be 19... I've told Patrick to be careful out there.

4) Mike and I went today for our belated Valentine's dinner. We went to Longhorn Steak House, where we both enjoyed an absolutely delicious Flo's Filet (7 oz), medium well. I had the rice pilaf, he had a baked potato. It was fantastic. Patrick stayed home today because of the "major weather event" (see item 3 above), so no Valentine's sexin's occurred. However, as Katie Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is anothuh day..."

5) My Medicare part D (prescription coverage) provider, CVS/Caremark, has decided I don't need to have Kapidex, so it has been disallowed until my physician turns in a Prior Authorization form. Of course, they didn't bother to let me know until I went to refill the damn thing. I called the pharmacy, and they faxed the PA to my doc, then I called her and asked that they fill it out and return it ASAP. CVS/Caremark was supposed to have called me today to tell me I could get my drugs, but of course they haven't. So I need to call them tomorrow. Meanwhile I'm back to taking Protonix and Zantac twice a day. Which wasn't working all that well, which is why I went on the Kapidex...

6) I've been flirting with a bladder infection for the past week. The twinges, the slightly uncomfortable urination, the small bits of gravel on the toilet paper. So I've been taking nitrofurantoin nightly and UTA three times a day. Peeing bright green is always festive, but it should more appropriately be done during St. Patrick's day... I hope this doesn't mean I'm building another kidney stone -- I've had a few twinges in the kidney area, which terrifies me.

And I believe that is all for now. Fuck, it's enough.

Well, called the dentist up this morning at 8:30 to see about this damn tooth, and they told me to come on in. So I did, got there about 8:45. Sat in the waiting room until 10:45 -- they were slammed. I didn't mind, I've gone in before and been seen right away, so it was only fair that I should have to wait on occasion.

The dentist came in and looked at it, and said "Oh my, it looks like the whole filling has just cracked!" Peachy. I asked him if it was really feasible to crown it, since I'm 53, how much could my teeth shift in the 30 or so years I have left (my family lives into their 80's or 90's)... he said he could certainly pull it, but that my teeth could shift in as little as 1 or 2 years, and that would mess up all the teeth in the front and around to the right side of my mouth, decay below the gumline, pain, loose teeth, destruction of the bone, and dentures before I was 55 or so.

So yeah, let's put a crown on it. $875, but since my filling was only a week old ($278) they knocked that off, and since I've always paid in full right then, they knocked off another $50 for the aggravation of waiting. So that brought the crown in at $547, so that's okay.

Lots of numbing, plus a bonus shot into the jaw tendon for some reason (which was NOT fun, and tasted really awful), then drill drill drill, twinged a little from gum tenderness, then wax impression, then application of a temporary crown. I'll have my new one in 3 weeks, and I don't have to pay for it until then. Another benefit of paying up front all the times before.

Just about all the teeth top and bottom on the left side of my mouth are now going to be crowns. I have no crowns on the right side of my mouth. Obviously I chew on the left side all the time. I must change that habit and chew on the right predominantly from now on -- that way by the time I die I'll have worn away the right side of my mouth and won't have to be recrowned.

Your result for The Which Shakespeare Play Are You? Test...

Hamlet

You scored 56% = Tragic, 36% = Comic, 24% = Romantic, 10% = Historic

You are The Tragedy of Hamlet. Highly regarded as the best play ever written by anyone ever, Hamlet tells the story of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, and his desire to enact revenge on his Uncle for the murder of his father. When performed in its entirety, Hamlet is just under 4 hours long and contains many of the most recognizable phrases in the English language. But enough of that - let's get back to you. Your results tell us that you are no doubt of high intelligence and cultural grace. While sometimes a bit dark and moody, you still have the poise and respect of a royal noble. Your tragic flaw, however may be that you tend to over-analyze situations and think too much when you should act. You also may be a bit long-winded, but we like you anyway!
