... and it's reprehensible. I sent the following to Nike at this location ... if you want to do the same you have to type your message, then sign up, then it'll accept the posting and send you a confirmation email:
I find it utterly reprehensible that Nike is renewing its contract with Mr. Vick. He is the poster child for animal abuse -- do you really want Nike's name to be associated forever with someone who strangled, electrocuted, and drowned dogs? Who used household pets to "train" fighting dogs? As long as Michael Vick is associated with Nike, I will never purchase another Nike product, and I will make sure no one I know will do so either.

Thank you for your email. Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick. We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Sincerely,
Nike
Their email has those "put your answer here" lines, so this is what I've fired back:
"Supply product to Michael Vick" merely means you send Michael Vick shoes, clothing, and anything else branded as Nike to him for free, as long as he wears it publicly. That is the same as Vick appearing on television telling people "Buy Nike -- it's what I wear." I should think that a confessed, convicted animal abuser would be the absolute *last* person you would want associated with your company. Do you really want to be know as "Nike -- the choice of confessed, convicted animal abusers"? Or how about "Nike -- we send our product free to people who kill their household pets as training for illegal fighting dogs"? Maybe "Nike -- wear us while you drown and electrocute some innocent animals"?
This is a major mistake on the part of Nike. Michael Vick is most emphatically *not* a person you want associated with your product, in any way, shape or form. If he wants to wear your product, then let him buy it like any other person has to. But giving it to him is the same as paying him to shill for you.
I will not purchase Nike products as long as your company "supplies product" to Michael Vick, and I will urge family and friends not to purchase Nike products. (Be aware, "friends" includes a very large on-line community.)
Thank you,
Lorraine Robinson
So we'll see if they give a damn or not. Meanwhile, I encourage everyone to go here and express your own indignation. Post this in your own journal and encourage your own friends lists to express themselves.
In other words, SIC 'EM!!!
