I posted yesterday in a comment that one of our half-wild outdoor cats had brought up her one kitten. I spent yesterday going out periodically, catching said kitten, and giving it snuggles and talking to it so we can socialize it and find it a home. We also need to take her mama, Li'l Lisa, to be fixed.

This morning I went out and got the baby twice, and she's more and more accepting and friendly. She doesn't even hiss anymore, and is relatively easy to catch! Lisa must have been pleased, because this evening she brought up a second kitten. I know they usually have 4 to 6, but Lisa is a tiny cat, and last year she only had two.

ETA: Apparently she had room for at least 3 babies, because she brought up another one this morning! Another black female, who is a bit bigger and feistier than the first black female. She hissed and actually nipped my finger when I went to catch her this morning. I'm calling her Xena the Warrior Princess. I wonder how many more will appear...

This new one is the cutest little black tuxedo male! I caught him with no difficulty, his sister watched concernedly, and Lisa did her usual hiss and growl. Held him and snuggled him a bit too. Both babies stayed up on the deck while Lisa, daddy Bob and big brother Little Boy (who was fixed earlier this year) ate supper. Tomorrow I'm going to mix up some canned cat food and a little milk and get the babies started on it, because a lady from over at the high school happened to see the first kitten (an adorable solid black female) and is coming back next Friday to take her home!

It would be great if they both were socialized enough that she'd take them both -- kittens need company. And they'll be so much more fun together, too.
