Dem Ol' Zetia Blues
8/28/07 01:10 pmWell, been on Zetia (ezetimibe) for a week now, and guess what? Yup, got that not-quite-right numby achey feeling in the deep muscles in my left hip. Just like with every damn statin I've taken. Only now the "relatively rare" side effect of muscle pain is getting me with the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors like Zetia...
So after calling my doctor and telling her the Zetia is a non-starter, she's going to want me to go on cholestyramine, which is a bile acid sequestrant. And guess what the side effects of THAT are? Most common are constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and excessive passage of gas (flatulence). The weight loss I can handle ;-D but I don't know if I or my family can handle yet MORE fartly goodness... I already fart like a herd of dairy cows. The other stuff is nothing new. Luckily I had just finished the first of 4 Zetia samples, hadn't spent any money on it...
Been taking my overpriced fish oil like a good girl, 4x daily. Had to make a chart so I can check off when I take it, because I can't remember from one pill to the next if I took the last one...
