Yeah, he paints a somewhat rosy picture of nationalized health care in the UK, France, Canada and Cuba, but hell, anything is better than what we have now. Being on the outside looking in now, when I spent so long covered by employer group plans, it's a scary proposition to be without health insurance in the US. I have a state provided high-risk policy for which I pay $500 a month for really bad coverage; otherwise no insurer would touch me because I have a history of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and then had the temerity to have weight loss surgery in order to lose weight and correct those conditions. Now no insurer will touch me right out of the box because I had weight loss surgery!!
Then once you watch the movie, go here and communicate with your representatives to support HR 676, the Conyers National Health Insurance Act. Here's the full text of the bill.
You never know when you'll be out in the cold with no health insurance, or faced with financially devastating deductibles. Urge your representatives to do something about it.
