I've been perturbed by my inability to lose more weight, even taking in only 1100 calories a day and walking daily 20 - 30 min. I've done "back to basics", all liquids, all the little tricks for jumpstarting the weight loss again, and nothing's worked. My lowest weight was 224 back in January 2006, and over the next 6 months it crept up to 250. At that point I started a program that had me running 1 mile 3 times a week by the of July, and I kept that up until October 2006, when I was able to work in my woodshop again. My weight didn't change one little bit. Today I weighed 255.

So I went back to her today to see what's up. She asked for a food diary, so I brought it in with me. On average I take in between 950 and 1200 calories a day, 50 g protein, 200 g carbs, 20 g fat. Carbs are for the most part the good kind of carb, lots of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, very little rice or pasta. I figured she'd tell me to cut back even more, up the protein, etc.

Guess what she told me? And keep in mind she's an internist and has massive experience with WLS patients. I NEED TO EAT MORE!!!!!

I have to repeat that. No one, much less a doctor, has EVER told me that.

So in addition to what I'm currently eating, she's having me add high protein/whole grain snacks twice a day, to get in 1500 to 1600 calories. Whole wheat crackers with peanut butter, oatmeal with raisins, peanut butter sandwich made with whole grain bread.

She's also putting me on Reglan for the acid reflux, and increasing the Prevacid to twice a day instead of once a day at bedtime.

I have to say that again; I'm still astounded.
