Well, I thought it was HILARIOUS

Don't know how many of y'all read jpallan's blog, but this link was included in a recent post. She bemoaned it as having the ability to "...make any self-respecting teacher weep and take to the bottle."

Personally, I thought it was one of the funniest takes on Oedipus I've ever seen (at least from a snot-nosed high school kid) and also a commentary on theme papers. Yeah yeah yeah, writing one teaches you to organize your thoughts, how to do research, all that good shit, and IMHO this kid did it.

I wouldn't have given him a D for the paper, I'd probably have given him extra credit for it and asked him to do it again, but seriously this time. This kid has talent -- he's not stupid, in fact he's rather bright, and he has a very good comedic sense. The teacher needs to find a way to channel that creativity rather than alienating him further.

But from her writing she's a fusty old bitch who probably found Chaplin's potato soft-shoe routine scandalous and not fit for sensitive young ladies to view. Unstrap your corset, lady, and recognize the diamond in the rough you have here.
