Just wanted to chirp up here and say I had an absolute BLAST at the Great Heartland Squickfest this weekend! Unlike many times when you finally meet an online friend, even those of long standing, there were no awkward moments (except possibly when I called the estimable Mr. Blaque "a naggy bitch", but then I apologized), many things were found to be discussed, usually at top volume and punctuated with "OHMYGOD!!", much good food was ingested, and many miles were walked.
I am totally worn out, so much so that I went to bed last night at 10 pm (completely unheard of), got up this morning at 11 am (not so unheard of), and then had a 3 hour nap I just got up from. Annnnnd I can tell it will be another early night! I guess I saved up all my wobbler tiredness over the whole weekend.
palsgraf_polka is just the most wonderful, fun person to be around, and we've made a pact to do this again but for longer, and to stay at the most excellent hotel Chef Gein stayed at, because it was way cooler than our hotel, the elevators worked, the bathroom was bigger, the room was bigger, the beds were comfier, the architectural details were most exclamation-worthy, and there was a flat screen TV on the freakin' wall!!! God, I'm such a rube...
It was like Ms. Polka and I truly are sisters separated by time and space -- we just clicked so well, it was a lot of fun hanging out with her. Mr. Blaque is the original live wire, extremely concerned about his guests and anyone he perceives as his guests, most protective, and just a joy to be around. Chef Gein is like a cool pond of tranquility in a quiet forest, with only the occasional surfacing of a viciously toothed mutant piranha/giant squid/nameless prehistoric predator to give the lie to the Zen-like stillness of his exterior.

cgallivan and everyone else I forgot, it was a joy to meet you all and I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to hang out for longer! This was a fantastic get-together, and I can't wait for the next one!
